I've been a little homesick lately. I miss hanging out in Chicago during the summer and the closest thing that I find here to soothe me until I return home, is the Chicago Dog from Dat Dog, located on Magazine street. I'm very appreciative of any establishment that has great food and serves cocktails. Their menu consists of a variety of hot dogs, Dat Dog burger, sausages, vegan sausages, beer battered COD, fries or tots for sides and tons of toppings for your hot dog or sausage. The place is furnished with bright outdoor picnic tables and indoors there's booths and a bar section that extends outside.

First, I thought that I was going to sit outside but no ma'am! It was too hot, although there were shaded areas to sit.

So I moved from the outdoor bar side to indoors. While there, I noticed their Happy Hour menu, Monday thru Friday from 4-7pm because everyone loves happy hour specials right? Of course!

Every day, they have specials and activities going on and again, they are perfectly located on Magazine street. During my visit today, I saw that on Sunday's they have a $5 special on Bloody Mary's. Jesus be a fence on my wallet cause I love sipping BM's on Sunday's during brunch hours. You can also win a $50 Dat Dog gift card during trivia night on Wednesdays.

The bartender was super cool. He noticed my Canon camera and asked if I was a photographer. I laughed and told him that I was a blogger with a passion for photography but never use my camera because I always just use my iPhone. He easily related and then served my cocktail and eventually my food as shown below.

I had again, the Chicago Dog is topped with yellow mustard, chopped white onions, bright green sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomatoes and pickled sport peppers. In Chicago, they pour a sprinkle of celery salt on the hot dog. I had seasoned fries to pair with my hot dog and the infamous New Orleans cocktail, known as Hurricane. Everything was delicious and the customer service was amazing! I'm an internal foodie, I just love food and Dat Dog on Magazine street is definitely a place to come get a quick meal and cocktail throughout your day. If you're in New Orleans, make sure you stop by Dat Dog.
