How to Level Up in Your Business

Writer: Felicia T. SimpsonFelicia T. Simpson

I recently created a Business Social Media Start Up Bundle in my online store and wanted to share with people ways to level up in your business. As a blogger and freelance writer, I turned my passions of reading and writing, into a profitable business. How did I do that? It's simple, I leveled up and dedicated a year of my life to developing myself and my business, better than what I had previously been doing.

To level up in your business, here's what you need to do:

Write the vision. Get one of those 10,000 journals you own and write down exactly what you want to do and where you want your business to be in the next 3-5 years. From there, start executing action steps to accomplish that goal.

Invest in personal development monthly. This can be in the forms of self-care, books, e-courses, conferences, etc. Invest in what will holistically make you a better person on the inside.

Be intentional about why and what you're doing. Don't be out here haphazardly doing stuff. It shows! Don't do what everyone else is doing cause you see it working for them. Be your own #bosschick and be more intentional about your business.

Read what your mentors are reading. Regardless if you personally know your mentor or if you have several virtual mentors, like me, that you look up to, read the books that they are reading. This will sharpen your knowledge about your business and personal development that's needed to level up.

Invest in your business and stop DIY'n everything. You're going to have to hire the experts in order to level up. You may need to hire a graphic artist to create your logo, a web designer, project manager, bookkeeper, lawyer, marketing consultants or whomever else you need to get your business in order. You can not do everything in your business if you want to level up!

Hire a photographer. You will need multiple images for marketing, social media, headshots, etc. Selfies are cute but NOT professional! You can't expect people to purchase your products or services and the images you post on social media or your website are blurry or granny, trash in the background, dirty mirrors, etc.

Research your industry. You should always be abreast on your industry news and trends. You don't have to know everything but in order to call yourself an expert, you need to know at minimum the basic knowledge of your business industry.

Register and/or trademark your business, pay taxes, etc. Ok now that you've decided to level up in your business, get all of your legal documents in order. You are no longer operating as a hustler, you want your business to be legally protected.

Clean up and stop rebranding/making excuses. How many times are you going to start over? Sometimes, you just need to clean up your website or clean up your marketing strategies, you don't need to start over and over and over, again. Your website just might need new, professional images instead of those images you took with your iPhone 4.

Be consistent and do the work. You can't keep thinking, starting something and then stopping at the first obstacle you're faced with. In order to level up, you have to stay consistent in your business from the planning, managing and execution in the daily operations. As you grow, your business model may change but don't ever stop doing the work.

I hope these tips have helped you embark on your journey to level up in your business. If you are interested in purchasing my Business Social Media Start Up Bundle, click here.
