Finally got my hands on the new Moisture Rx: Hawaiian Ginger collection by Mielle Organics. I was so excited to be at their pop up shop during Essence fest on days one and two. I remember racing home from work, changing clothes and raced to find parking near the French Quarter and then caught an Uber the rest of the way. When I arrived, the CEO's husband and another staff were restocking this collection. I love this brand and the owner, Monique Rodriguez story behind its creation: She turned a painful moment in her life to drive her towards her purpose.

Moisturizing Leave-in Conditioner

This collection is all about adding more moisture. It does not have a shampoo so I used the Mielle Organics Babassu Conditioning Sulfate-free Shampoo first. Although this new collection has an overnight conditioner, my hair and scalp really needed to be cleaned first after wearing my perm rod set for almost two weeks. Once I washed my hair and detangled it, I applied the overnight conditioner (twist your hair into sections, thank me later for this, to keep your hair detangled). I let the overnight conditioner sit literally in my hair, overnight in a shower cap and covered with my silk scarf. The next day, my hair was still full of moisture, I kept my hair twisted while I rinsed out the conditioner.
The holy grail for me with this collection is the leave-in conditioner. I finally got to feel "the slip" from a product. This leave-in conditioner easily moisturized my strands and my fingers literally were able to rake through my hair. Of course the products all smelled good because this brand is definitely known for that in addition to the quality of their ingredients. But getting back to the leave-in conditioner lol. It came in with a pump which was helpful to me to distribute the right amount of product I wanted to coat each section.
Next, I applied the moisturizing hair butter and twisted each section of my hair. Normally for my twist-outs, I use the Mielle Organics Twisting Souffle' but it was nice to try a hair butter instead. I let my hair air dry overnight and left the twists in all day. I used the moisturizing scalp treatment spray to oil my scalp and went on about my day.
Finally, it was time to complete my twist-out two days later. I coated my hands with Mielle Organics Almond Mint Oil and begin unraveling my twists. My hair was so soft and full of moisture once I was done. I picked my roots to add volume and BOOM I was ready to go show the world, my beautiful self and my moisturized hair! With this style, I only used the styling gel to clean up my edges but I'll be using it more often in the future to style my hair.
To my understanding from watching vloggers style their hair with the gel, it doesn't have a good hold to it that makes your styles last longer. I found myself using the gel on the ends of my hair just as an added moisture.
