Wash days for me is so therapeutic and from start to finish, cleansing my hair is the most important part to me. I don't use a lot of product on my hair to style my mane, however, my scalp and strands still need to be treated with care and definitely cleansed weekly to avoid product build up. In the image above, are my favorite shampoos to use on my hair. I've learned to make sure that my shampoos are parabens free and does not contain any sulfates. You have to be careful with certain shampoos and how often you shampoo your hair to avoid stripping your hair of moisture and the nutrients that it needs to maintain its healthiness and avoid breakage.
Except for the Product Junkie Naturals (centered), you can purchase all of these shampoos at your local store where you purchase your hair products. I picked up the Curl Clarity Shampoo by Product Junkie Naturals at a natural hair expo last year. It's a black owned business by Denise Gathings. She makes other products for your hair and skin as well.
Every now and then I use the Bamboo Fibers Shampoo by Maui Moisture. This shampoo smells good and definitely cleanses my hair. I also have the conditioner that pairs with this shampoo, you can read that review here. I don't get to use this shampoo often, but whenever I do, I love how my scalp feels afterwards and it's super affordable. This brands products are eco-friendly which is great to know.
Right now, I'm really loving the Mielle Organics Rosemary Mint collection's strengthening shampoo (below). This shampoo lathers so well in my hair. I recently learned to use their Babassu conditioning shampoo after the Rosemary Mint conditioner during my wash day. Not sure if you wash your hair underneath the kitchen sink like me mostly or while you shower but both of these shampoos are my favorites to use. I shouldn't have to tell you, but both of these shampoos really smell good and can be still be smelled in your hair by people around you. I recently was told while standing in line at a coffee shop during a wash day that my hair smelled so good.
Lastly, I love washing my hair in the shower with the Palmer's Olive Oil Formula Smoothing Shampoo. This shampoo contains vitamin E and keratin protein for strong hair. This particular shampoo doesn't have a special scent to it and scents don't particularly matter to me I need the product to work on my hair not just smell good.
Picking the right shampoos for your hair is the first step for your wash day routine. You may have to try several before you decide which product works best for your hair. Whichever you choose make sure you spend time cleansing and massaging your scalp. I used to just focus on the strands of my hair and had major product build up smh. Let's just say, when you know better you do better.
