Uncle Tyler Perry, took my breath away yet again, with the opening of his Tyler Perry Studio Gala last weekend in Atlanta, Ga. I'm not here to talk about who wore what and why did they chose to wear this or that because this grand opening was so much bigger than that! Yes there were tons of A-list celebrities and so many beautiful black people in attendance. But this truly was a moment to seriously honor the man behind the years of hard work, sacrifices and dedication it took, to be in that atmosphere. As actress Keisha Knight Pulliam who is now a part of TPS legacy stated in a red carpet interview, "As creatives, we have to create content for us by us." And that, is what TP continuously does for us.

Just to give you a little history:
"Tyler Perry Studios is an American film production studio in Atlanta, Georgia founded by actor, filmmaker, and playwright Tyler Perry in 2006. In 2019, Tyler Perry celebrated the grand opening of his newest Atlanta studio location; he purchased 330 acres of the former Fort McPherson complex in 2015 to make it the new home of Tyler Perry Studios. Tyler Perry Studios is one of the largest film production studios in the nation and established Tyler Perry as the first African-American to outright own a major film production studio. Through 34th Street Films, a production arm of Tyler Perry Studios, Perry guides the work of other filmmakers." - Wikipedia
Let's go back even further to watch the BET 2019 Awards show when he was awarded the 2019 BET Ultimate Icon Award. His speech was so profound watch the clip below:
Someone mentioned that we once dreamed of having a black president in our lifetime, we've done that! Now we bare witness to a black man who went from being homeless to a man who dressed up in a wig to earn money as a household name and character to now has created BLACK EXCELLENCE to help other people cross over into their God given paths and honoring pioneers and icons such as Cicely Tyson, Diahann Carroll, Oprah, Whoopi Goldberg, Denzel Washington and so many more. His new 12 sound stages named proudly after those pioneers is now the new pavement for those actors that we sometimes forget about, up and coming creatives and new careers in production and filmmaking.

Tyler Perry is such an inspiration to so many people and I appreciate his transparency and wisdom as I too establish my own table to sit at and help other black women, join me at that table. Speaking of having my own table, I had been going back and forth on ways to help the black culture, community and business owners that falls within my brand as a blogger. As you know, I have ad spaces for purchase in my seasonal magazine Fearless. But I really wanted to create a platform digitally for local black business owners who don't have to keep asking to sit at the table of social media's algorithms or high priced ads. I now have a "Buy Black" page on my website that you shop products and/or services for black owned businesses. You can even be linked to a product review or an interview that I've done with some of the local business owners. If you liked to purchase ad space, email me at info@feliciatsimpson.com.

I'm so in awe of his continuous accomplishments and I'm excited to move to Atlanta one day, and in some way help keep his legacy alive!!!!
